Pauline Miedema, the Netherlands

Before I went to the Gambia, I made sure to read a few things about the country first. All the books siad that the Gambian people where friendly people and I have to admit that that was true. I also read that you have to be careful of hustlers and bumpsters because all they are after is your money. The first day it was hard to walk down the road because of the many people 'harassing' you but after one day everything went fine.

When we wanted to book a trip, the first logical place for us to look was the hotel. But the trips they offered there were expensive, boring and the tourists were driven around in a big bus. Because I hate to sit in a big bus with lots of other tourists, we decided to take a look at the 'office' of the official tourist guides from the gambian government, which was just outside our hotel (senegambia).

We ended up taking three trips with this guide "Tony Blair" and we were delighted. Not only did he show us the most beautiful places of this great country, he wasn't as expensive as the hotel guides, we had our own car with driver and it was much easier to come into contact with the Gambians because we had a guide.

When you go to Gambia I would surely recommend you to take a trip with "Tony Blair", because he is a good, trustworthy guide and he will make sure you have an unforgettable holiday.

Tony

Thanks for the tours you took us on during our two week holiday in August. Here are some photos of our roots trip. Here's the one of the boat just before it sank.

Looking forward to seeing you all again in December.
