Denis is an ornithology and a tourist guide. He knows his birds, sites and areas in the Gambia and Senegal.

There are five hundred and sixty species of birds in the Gambia, both common and uncommon, frequent and rare.

Also there are one hundred and seventy five species of butterflies of the Gambia and he knows most of these butterflies, animals,reptiles,trees and flowers. I really recommended him as an expert of his knowledge.

He is currently working with the (B.G.A) Bird Guide Association (The gambia) and used to be a member of W.A.B.S.A

For those who are keen twitchers or nature lovers he can organise tours around the coast and the country side (up-river) and as far as Senegal.

There are places on the coast that you are expecting to see more than seventy species in a few hours, for example Giant Kingfisher, Pied kingfisher, Blue breasted Kingfisher, Spur winged Plover, Wattled Plover, Black headed Plover, Little Bee-eater, Black Egret, Intermediate Egret, Great White Egret, Rose ringed Parakeet, Senegal Parrot, African Jacana, Black Crake, Greater painted Snipe, Firfinchs etc

My name is Mustapha Kassama and I am a professional bird watching guide and I can guide you around the coastal and to the up country with a good experience of showing you different bird species.

There are areas less than 10 minutes walking distance from the Kotu hotel area. From the bridge over the Kotu creek excellent views can be obtained daily of different wader species, including Senegal-Thick-Knees, most of the heron and egret species, Hammerkops, and sometimes Sacred Ibis. The rice fields and wet areas between the Kotu creek and the Casino cycle track are rather good for birds and you may see Painted snipe and some species of Cisticola. An evening walk around the casino cycle track towards an area with low dunes near the shore results in good views of standard wing nightjar and long tailed nightjar. The Kotu pounds contained quite number of water species in addition to a flock of white daces whistling ducks and some little grebes.
