Arch 22

On July 22nd 1994 Banjul was the scene of a military coup.

Arch 22 was built to commemorate this event and is an entrance portal to the capital.

The gate is 35 metres tall and the centre is an open square.

Tourists can take the lift or climb the stairs for a panoramic view of Banjul from the balcony at the top.

There is also a small museum at the top to look round.
